Deep ruby colour, the 2018 Cape Ruby shows amazing complexity and intensity on the nose. Christmas cake flavours combine with layers of ripe black fruit, dark chocolate and dried fruit. The palate is decadent, again with beautiful intensity. The alcohol is well integrated, and the wine has a silky, dry finish.
The colour of our Stately wine is black-red with a lighter, garnet red on the rim. The nose entices with sweet cherries, tobacco and vanilla with a floral undertone. The 2017 is a medium bodied wine, showing a silky texture and depth as well as an elegant tannin structure. Floral, plum, strawberry and ground spice notes linger on the palate long after the last sip. This blend is showing beautifully now, and will reward cellaring for up to 5 years.
Our Merlot is an excellent expression of the cultivar: rich with juicy red fruit and characteristic herbal highlights of lavender, fennel and anise with a lively eucalyptus edge. The nose offers cherry and redcurrant, while the palate reveals sour cherry, dark chocolate and spicy clove. Velvety texture is enhanced by refreshing acidity, while well-integrated tannins add structure. This fuller-bodied wine will stand up to rich dishes with strong Mediterranean flavours, such as braised and roast meats, tomato-based stews, mature cheeses and briny olives. Will bottle age well for five to seven years after bottling.

Dried prune, cloves, plums, and cherry sherbet on the nose transform into a medium-bodied, delicate black fruit and spice driven wine with soft, fine tannins, integrated acidity and a silky texture. The Catharina stands out with its intensity and complexity, evoking the aromas of many of life’s pleasures: biltong and cigar, coffee and dark chocolate, fruitcake and Ceylon tea. Layers of concentrated red and black fruit (raspberry, blackcurrant and black cherry) show on both the nose and the palate, accented with spicy pepper from the Syrah. Herbal notes from the Merlot lend a refreshing finish, while Petit Verdot rounds out the blend, adding structure and depth. Dark fruit and spice, subtle acidity and a strong tannic backbone create the optimal pairing for a traditional beef Wellington. Will bottle age well for 7 to 10 years after bottling.
On appearance, this wine is slightly brick red with a clear yet bright hue. The bouquet displays notes of savoury strawberry compote, aniseed and truffle; along with notes of leather and red cherry. As with all Eagles’ Nest red’s there is a subtle peppery savouriness that makes this wine both distinctive and gives testament to its origin on a cool wind swept mountainside. The palate is a satisfying combination of perfectly ripe berry fruit, subtle spice, with a persistent mouthfeel. This wine is ready to drink now but will benefit from correct cellaring until 2030.
The 2016 Eagles’ Nest Shiraz is a bright ruby colour. Perfume and floral aromas combine harmoniously with red cherry and spice on the nose. These flavours gracefully carry through to a savoury, spicy pallet, with aromas of star anees and cloves. These flavours are complimented by pure, clean red fruit flavours. Soft, well integrated tannins coat the pallet, leading to a distinct fresh finish. A truly great wine from maturing vineyards, this wine will age gracefully for 20 years from vintage.
The Little Eagle Red is a Shiraz dominated blend, offering delicious savoury, spicy flavours, with prevalent aromas of pepper and cloves. This is complimented by delicious dark berry flavours on the palate. The tannins are soft and accessible. This wine ready to drink, but will age gracefully for 5 years +.
The LUCCA embodies the synthesis of elegance and power, demanding further exploration into an endless palate. Its spicy, floral perfume unwinds from its attractive herbal core of wild rosemary and fynbos with the swirl of a glass. Beyond the characteristics of the Cabernet Franc, the Merlot will provide you with Morelo cherry aromas, flowing effortlessly onto a palate showing serious structure.
The AIDAN is extremely expressive with powerful aromas of cassis, clove, plum and blackberry. From this intriguingly dark nose this complex wine follows through with intense flavour concentration on the palate, presenting bold, yet polished, palate-gripping tannins that unwind into a lingering finish, demanding a sip more.
The STELLA nose is most enticing with upfront notes of fynbos florae, ripe black cherries and petrichor, seasoned with the perfect amount of white pepper. It is quite spicy but has a clean red berry perfume that can be attributed to the long, perfect growing season of 2017. It is full-bodied and packed with ripe, textured grape tannins that were extracted during the “hands-off”, whole-bunch natural fermentation, while the finish is long and decadent with its beautifully preserved natural acidity.
