The Brut Rosé has a delicate Salmon pink colour. The nose shows red fruit like cranberries and sour cherries with a hint of white peach. The palate has a fine mousse and the fresh acidity leaves a clean, dry finish.
The blend of white and red Muscat de Frontignan gives this wine a beautiful amber colour. The nose shows caramel and toffee with dried fruit like apricot and peach, as well as a hint of orange blossom. The caramel and dried fruit follows on the palate, and the fresh acidity balances the sweetness of the wine to leave a more-ish finish.
Our pale pink 1682 Pinot Noir Méthode Cap Classique is fresh with fruity aromas of raspberry jelly, wild strawberry sorbet, red apple skin and toasted brioche. The wine has a very fine mousse that lifts the raspberry-like aromas and is balanced well with a creamy texture and bright acidity with a lingering dry finish. Enjoy in its youth or cellar for 3 to 5 years to promote a more savoury flavour development.
Our 2015 Lady R has a pale copper hue. Aromatically, this wine shows hints of red apple skin, desiccated coconut, raspberry pie, almond paste, citrus biscuits and savoury dried herbs. The creaminess on the palate is complemented by the subtle and refreshing acidity of the wine. There’s a salinity that carries through on the palate alongside restrained pear and cinnamon spiciness. Lady R’s effervescence shows finesse with elegantly fine bubbles that contribute to the overall texture of the wine. It is seriously structured and shows elegance and beautiful ageing ability.
The nose initially shows opulent tropical fruit aromas, including flavours of pineapple and gooseberries. These notes are underpinned by a fresh zesty core. The colour of our Stately wine is black-red with a lighter, garnet red on the rim. The nose entices with sweet cherries, tobacco and vanilla with a floral undertone. The 2017 is a medium bodied wine, showing a silky texture and depth as well as an elegant tannin structure. Floral, plum, strawberry and ground spice notes linger on the palate long after the last sip. This blend is showing beautifully now, and will reward cellaring for up to 5 years.
Our Sphynx Chardonnay shows upfront and intense aromas of limestone and orange blossom, butterscotch and crème brûlée on the nose. Subtle vanilla oak spice is carried through from the nose to the palate where it meets flavours of pear and dried apple. It is complemented by a silky, elegant structure and creamy texture, which in turn is tempered by a clean acidity and chalky minerality.
The wine is ready to enjoy now, but will reward patience and age gracefully for the next 2- 5 years.
This wine exhibits a fresh green-gold hue, testament to its barrel fermentation and maturation. Sumptuous and enticing, a flintiness on the nose is complimented by delicious citrus aromas of lime and mandarin skin. Delicate peach blossom and jasmine flower notes develops in the glass. As the wine has not undergone malolactic fermentation, the palate is a fresh, complimenting the even handed wooding applied in the cellar, leading to a crisp, clean and lingering aftertaste. Our Merlot is an excellent expression of the cultivar: rich with juicy red fruit and characteristic herbal highlights of lavender, fennel and anise with a lively eucalyptus edge. The nose offers cherry and redcurrant, while the palate reveals sour cherry, dark chocolate and spicy clove. Velvety texture is enhanced by refreshing acidity, while well-integrated tannins add structure. This fuller-bodied wine will stand up to rich dishes with strong Mediterranean flavours, such as braised and roast meats, tomato-based stews, mature cheeses and briny olives. Will bottle age well for five to seven years after bottling.

The Catharina stands out with its intensity and complexity, evoking the aromas of many of life’s pleasures: biltong and cigar, coffee and dark chocolate, fruitcake and Ceylon tea. Layers of concentrated red and black fruit (raspberry, blackcurrant and black cherry) show on both the nose and the palate, accented with spicy pepper from the Syrah. Herbal notes from the Merlot lend a refreshing finish, while Petit Verdot rounds out the blend, adding structure and depth. Dark fruit and spice, subtle acidity and a strong tannic backbone create the optimal pairing for a traditional beef Wellington. Will bottle age well for 7 to 10 years after bottling.
On appearance, this wine is slightly brick red with a clear yet bright hue. The bouquet displays notes of savoury strawberry compote, aniseed and truffle; along with notes of leather and red cherry. The wine displays the natural tart acidity and grippy tannins of Nebbiolo, accompanied with hints of sour cherry, raspberry and tobacco leaf.
The wine shows beautiful fruit and floral characters in youth, but will develop well over the next 7 to 10 years and will greatly reward those who resist it’s youthful charm.
Our Semillon is a beautiful pale gold colour. Aromas of honey, stone fruit and ground spice greet you upon first inspection. Quince, persimmon and roasted almond complete the sensation on the palate. Poised fruit concentrates the mid-palate, after which the wine broadens out with a rich, almost waxy texture and bright acidity. A citrus and floral spice lingers on the palate long after the last drop. This Semillon will continue to evolve in complexity and richness with age.
Our Magna Carta strongly reflects the Steenberg terroir and the warmer, drier growing season by displaying aromas and concentrated flavours of freshly cut orange, lemon cheesecake, summer melon, persimmon, honey and white stone fruit.
The focus continues onto the palate where one finds an elegantly structured wine showing ground spice and fruit richness tempered by a zesty acidity that forms the wine’s backbone. It is nuanced and ever-evolving in the glass and shows beautifully now, but will gain complexity with cellaring. The 2017 Magna Carta with its freshness and fullness is a veritable food wine and pairs beautifully with crayfish, duck and salmon tartare.
Our Viognier is grown on a combination of terrains on our estate, and the 2019 fruit was carefully picked in small batches as the different sites managed to perfectly ripen their fruit. They were whole bunch pressed to a combination of 225L French oak barrels ranging in age from 2nd-4th fill, and this year enjoyed the addition of a concrete-fermented portion too. The nose is filled with aromas of peach blossom, jasmine flower and mandarin zest, and with the swirl of a glass, if you really pay attention, some Herbs de Provence too. Our cool climate’s influence on the ripening of this grape is vital in maintaining Viognier’s natural acidity, and adds edge to an already elegant offering.
This Blanc de Noir might be one of the most serious efforts I have tasted to date. It is pale and complex beyond my own expectation of the fruit. The nose hints subtle floral notes of elderflower (a pyrazine) that quickly become consumed by high concentrations of thiols such as passionfruit, grapefruit and gooseberries (yeast derived) before leaving the nose with hints of fresh citrus.
On the palate you are exposed to serious grip and spice, for which we need to credit the variety being Cabernet Franc, as well as our excellent cool climate terroir. Incredibly small tannins provide a racy texture. It is bone dry with an incredibly fresh natural acidity providing a long, clean, finish.
The LUCCA embodies the synthesis of elegance and power, demanding further exploration into an endless palate. Its spicy, floral perfume unwinds from its attractive herbal core of wild rosemary and fynbos with the swirl of a glass. Beyond the characteristics of the Cabernet Franc, the Merlot will provide you with Morelo cherry aromas, flowing effortlessly onto a palate showing serious structure.
The AIDAN is extremely expressive with powerful aromas of cassis, clove, plum and blackberry. From this intriguingly dark nose this complex wine follows through with intense flavour concentration on the palate, presenting bold, yet polished, palate-gripping tannins that unwind into a lingering finish, demanding a sip more.
The STELLA nose is most enticing with upfront notes of fynbos florae, ripe black cherries and petrichor, seasoned with the perfect amount of white pepper. It is quite spicy but has a clean red berry perfume that can be attributed to the long, perfect growing season of 2017. It is full-bodied and packed with ripe, textured grape tannins that were extracted during the “hands-off”, whole-bunch natural fermentation, while the finish is long and decadent with its beautifully preserved natural acidity.
